Hesse Police Violence

Proceeding to force criminal prosecution in the Farah Case

On August 2, 2022, 23-year-old Amin Farah was shot dead by a special forces officer in Frankfurt am Main.

The proceedings were discontinued on June 28, 2024, pursuant to Section 170 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. According to the public prosecutor's office, there was insufficient suspicion of a crime. The accused special forces officer was justified by self-defense. The brother of the deceased filed an appeal against the dismissal. This appeal was dismissed by a decision of the Public Prosecutor's Office dated February 10, 2025. On behalf of the brother of the deceased, I have now filed a motion for a court decision with the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and requested that charges be brought against the special forces officer who fired the fatal shots.

The fatal shots appear to be the culmination of a chain of misjudgments that escalated the operation. The assumption of self-defense does not fit with the results of the forensic investigation at the crime scene, the forensic report and the reconstruction of the crime.
